CANTEK Supports Turkish Meat Producers Preparing for New Animal Welfare Requirements

International engineering expertise, applied locally.

Konya, Türkiye. New requirements for animal restraint at the opening stage of the slaughter process are being introduced. Published on 21 July 2026 and effective from 1 January 2027, the amendment strengthens expectations for how animals are held and positioned during slaughter.

The regulation prohibits relying solely on mechanical leg clamping for restraint and forbids suspending or lifting conscious animals by their legs. It also requires suitable equipment that avoids excessive pressure, provides a non-slip floor, operates quietly without sudden movements, and has no sharp edges that could injure animals.
For Turkish meat producers, this makes the restraint stage a clear priority when reviewing existing slaughter lines and planning equipment upgrades.

CANTEK has already a focused engineering expertise on this critical process point. Our Halal Rotating Box is designed for controlled, smooth and predictable rotation, supporting stable animal positioning and consistent operator handling during halal slaughter. Its integration must be considered together with animal entry, restraint procedures, operator access and the subsequent stages of the line.

We are pleased to announce Konya Et as our first Turkish client for this solution, marking an important step in bringing our international experience closer to producers in our home market.

As an international meat technology company based in Türkiye, we are proud to share our expertise both globally and with Turkish brands. We see this development as an opportunity to help domestic producers strengthen process control, modernize handling practices and prepare their facilities for the next regulatory milestone.
